Caribbean to France

After two months of crazy renovation work - getting up around 6.00AM most days and working until dark (most of my close friends will know I am NOT an early bird!!) I have finally departed my beloved tropical island in the Caribbean and arrived in France for new experiences and challenges. I cannot believe I did not have ONE day at some of our heavenly beaches and snorkel sites that 1000's of tourists travel to every year! It was pure work! Our WHOLE house received some much needed TLC including heavy duty electrical work, concrete replacement, newly varnished furniture after sanding each piece by hand, new couch covers made and total painting. That is the "tip" of the iceberg! It has been mentioned a few times that Shane and I once again created miracles doing in 6-7 weeks what would take others 6 months. (I may start a renovation company when I come home!!!) From the picture of our house below on the last post, all our dark brown louvers and fascia boards are now a light coral colour and the other trim a blue/grey to pick up the colours from our beautiful stone work. Work will continue whilst I am away and many lists have been made with my wonderful and faithful worker Shane!

For now I say "Viva la France!" The trip consisting of 4 flights through JFK and Zurich and lasting some 30 hours of traveling after getting up at 4.30AM yesterday is over. I spent the overnight flight from NYC to Paris with a great gang of people sitting in my row - we chatted, drank and played computer games all night! We were all knackered in the morning! It all went smoothly as usual and I am about to go back to bed after a delicious dinner at the airport hotel restaurant. Tomorrow morning I will rise at my leisure (for a change) to pick up the hire car and drive the 4-5 hour drive south west of Paris into Brittany and my little cottage.

My next post will have some photos and tell you about the cottage! For the next week I intend to relax before heading to Munich to see my Dad! Can't wait to see them both!
