Big Ride now in Islamabad

My Skype rang after midnight last night and it was my Becky! They had finally arrived in Islamabad! As any mother will tell you, hearing the words Islamabad - Pakistan - Iran, all put some chills down your spine and you can only hope and pray your child is safe in this volatile area.

The journey to Islamabad was pretty rough. VERY rough! Hours, hours and more HOURS of slow riding on muddy roads/tracks which constantly threatened to slide the bike out left their already frozen bodies tight with tension. Becky said the temperatures were literally freezing and whilst they are decked out with Kevlar suits her hands and feet froze first whilst the rest of her body followed. She hung onto AJ with all her might whilst our brave AJ negotiated the bike through the thick flood torn roads which were now mud flats.

Coming into Islamabad was interesting to say the least. They ended up being escorted by a cavalcade of police for 200 kilometres at a very slow pace. Read her story on it! Web cam video from his helmet to follow SOON!

They also have the GPS Tracker online to follow them..........

Becky has written a new post to her blog AND they have posted a new 2nd video where she interviewed a Pakistani journalist who works with the refugees. The video is only a 7 minute watch and incredibly interesting to listen to the views of the "real" people who live in and with these appalling conditions. AJ has done a magnificent job of editing his 1.5 hours of filming into the short version for the blog whilst Becky's interview poignant. Being on the road as they are in remote areas makes it quite a challenge to organise web based media but they persevere and are doing it.

Aside being my daughter and the person I love more than life itself, these two are young Australian adults out there making a difference and creating awareness of other humans in a desperate plight! I love and respect you both.

Here once again is the blog Becky has created and keeps updating regularly.
