On the Pakistan/Iran border.........Quetta

A short but loving email from Becky tells me they are safely in Quetta now. They have to sit there for a few days to wait for their Iranian visas to be approved. In the meantime she has written another post on her blog with an article written by the chief reporter for "World Problems" magazine. It tells how Pakistan is an interesting and welcoming tourist destination with wonderfully warm people. There is feedback from Australian travelers in it too. Becky and AJ have the same experience! Worth a good read and very enlightening.........

A couple of posts ago I wrote that I know my own country is suffering terribly from our unexpected and devastating flooding; the main difference is that our country like many western countries get huge support from our government, financial and otherwise. Countries like Pakistan get NOTHING. All their aid comes mostly from outside help and volunteers. It's pretty tragic!

As a teenager I remember "walking" for Ethiopia and its hunger torn country at the time. Many of our children have gone on hunger strikes to raise money for different causes. Because of my contact through Becky and the "Australia for UNHCR" organisation, I am also receiving information from other support groups and just received one from OXFAM who also does a super job aiding victims globally. The OXFAM group are presently also aiding a host of floods around the world. I was stunned how many they have listed; Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Colombia are suffering from floods whilst Haiti has a breakout of cholera. My heart goes out to everyone suffering from natural disasters but these 3rd world countries really SUFFER! As adults now most of us don't do anything much for others suffering, perhaps we are immune to it only thinking of our own lives, but you have to take your hat off for OUR CHILDREN who will walk, ride and remember the ones who have nothing.

If you haven't watched Becky's 7 minute video interviewing a journalist and refugee worker, have a look! I am so proud of your incredible achievements my darling!

Thank you SO much for all my dear friends and contacts who have and are supporting my gorgeous dedicated gal and her man for this worthwhile cause! May God watch over you and keep you safe!
